the lushness of the fruits as a symbol to the juices inside us, waiting to ooze. women’s pleasure isn’t a forbidden fruit, but a source of creativity. black lesbian feminist audre lorde wrote in her text the erotic as power, embracing our erotic, sexual, intellectual, or whatever brings us joy, is our way to tune into our internal force, saying yes to the connection with ourselves. “when i speak of the erotic, then, i speak of it as an assertion of the lifeforce of women; of that creative energy empowered, the knowledge and use of which we are now reclaiming in our language, our history, our dancing, our loving, our work, our lives.” erotic is what empowers and gives us pleasure–the pleasure of experimenting and expending, creating and being.
